The moon didn’t show up for our full moon swim, but we did – three of us, with a candle and a rosemary circle. The water was a balm: so still and clear under the ominous cloud. I’d never swum so close to the rocks at the South Beach, and there was a noticeable drift in the glassy tide, and an unfamiliar feel to the place in the gathering dusk. Still, we talked, we swam, we talked some more. Still no moon.
