Respite.
Respite is the word that sprang to mind as I stood and watched the tidal swells spill over the cove, catching the slanted morning light in their smooth wash.
The rain started on the first day of the month, soon after the Moon Fire Circle, and it hasn’t stopped since. The weather, like the news, has been unrelenting. Even now, the sea is still reeling, pouring herself all over the beach in slow rolling surges, and ebbing in glassy overlays reflecting swimmers and sky.
Respite.
For one day in this windswept and rain-lashed month, spring was in the air, bright with promise.
